The Foundation for Balaton Wine Culture's touristic project nr. NYDOP 2.1.1/F-2012-0007 EMIR, which is being realized within the New Széchenyi Plan West Transdanubian Operational Programme, started in February 2013. The total costs of the project is gross HUF 152 174 650, of which the Foundation has to provide 5 percent as own funds.
In the framework of the project the external and internal renovation of the historic Helikon Taverna takes place and an interactive wine-making and gastronomic exhibition area is developed in the cellar. The museum will be unique not only in its material content; digital tools and contents, 3D films and screens make visitors' experience memorable. In the cellar there is a thematic gift shop and a green box photo room for our guests. The museum opens for visitors in the fall of 2013, and the project closes in September 2014.
The development is family-friendly not only in its thematic content (3D cinema, LEGO scale-model), but also on other attractions available on the location (outdoor playground, children's menu in the restaurant, baby equipments and changing-room).
The project pays special attention to environmental sustainability aspects. We use renewable energy: the heating of the cellar is provided by renovated historical, wood burning tile stoves, while the electric power is supplied by a 2 kVA solar power system.
